Spelling Activities


SPELLING



(Helping Children Practice Spelling At Home)
 
The trick is to find the strategy that works best for YOU!
(1). Write frequency words/spelling words in alphabetical order.

(2). Write frequency words/spelling words without its vowels.  Replace each vowel with a line.

(3). Make a set of flashcards for studying the words.

(4). Use each frequency word/spelling word in a sentence.  Correct spelling and grammar count!

(5). Create a “Memory Match” game creating two sets of cards with your words.

(6). Use a thesaurus to write a synonym for each word.

(7). Write a letter to Miss. Oliver, in proper letter format, using at least 10 of the high frequency words/spelling words.  Underline each word.

(8). Write a rap song using as many high frequency/spelling words as you can.

(9). Cut out letters from newspapers or magazines.  Use the letters to create a word collage.

(10). Use a flashlight to write the words on your ceiling at night.

(11). Draw a picture for each spelling word and write the word under the picture.(16). Make and complete a word search using http://www.puzzlemaker.com/

 (12). Make riddles with the spelling words as the answers.

(13). Use modeling clay rolled thinly to make your words. 

(14). Write a letter to a friend using all your spelling words.

(15).Write a TV commercial using all the words from your list.
